Bay Shore Girls Win Suffolk County Division 1 Championships -
The Bay Shore Girls Track team came from way back to defeat Northport and Sachem East to win its eighth championship in the last eleven years! After the first day of competition, the team scores were Longwood 24, Northport 23, Bay Shore 23, Sachem East 20 and Ward Melville 20. Alexis Barrau would win the triple jump with a personal best jump of 37'2". Anisa Toppin would place 3rd with a jump of 36'1" on her last jump in the finals. The scoring is 10-8-6-4-2-1 for the top six places. In the 800 meter run, Danielle Rowe would place 3rd with a time of 2:17.84. Eighth grader Nia McCaslin would place 6th with a personal best time of 2:21.78. Regina Peattie would win the second section easily running 2:22.90 to place 8th overall.
Bay Shore Wins Frosh/Soph Meets -
The Freshman/Sophomore Meet is the highlight of the season for our younger runners! The best athlete on the track, Anisa Toppin, led Bay Shore to the Freshman Team Title, by winning the triple jump – 35’7”, the 200 meter dash – 26.86, and getting dipped at the line to place 2nd in the 100 meter dash 13.13=13.14. In the sophomore meet, Bay Shore scored in ten events to win the Sophomore Championship. Kelsey Palomino placed 3rd in the 400 hurdles with a time of 70.87. Lindsay Arcuri placed 2nd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:01.60. Nailah Braxton had a terrific day placing 3rd in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.55. Gelibert Leads Bay Shore to Third Place Finish -
Bay Shore finished in third at the Eddy Games at Schenectady High School on Saturday, May 21st. Jessica Gelibert posted some fast times at the Eddy Games, the oldest track meet in New York State. To start Gelibert's day she anchored the Marauders 4 x 100 meter relay to their fastest time of the season and the fastest time in Suffolk County. Bay Shore's 49.77 qualified them for the final. Then Gelibert had to run three rounds of the 100 hurdles, where she cruised to easy wins in the trials – 14.94 and the semis – 14.91. In the finals, Jessica set a New School Record of 14.37 to win the 100 hurdles, and also ran the fastest time in New York State! For complete results click here.
Bay Shore Blows By Smithtown East -
The Bulls were no match for Bay Shore, as the Marauders eliminated Smithtown East 90-50 on Tuesday, April 26th. Jessica Gelibert won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.3 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 63.1 for Bay Shore (5-0) in League III. Both times are the fastest in Suffolk County, according to coach Steve Borbet, and the 14.3 in the 100 is also a school record. Deanna Carroll, who ran a 14.6 in 1981, previously held the record. Essence Rogers took first in the 100-meter dash in 12.2.
Suffolk Coaches Meet -
Jessica Gelibert ran the open 400 meter hurdles and was running a really strong race when she hit the sixth hurdle and took a nasty fall. Most athletes would have just given up, but Jessica not only got up, but chased down everyone but the eventual winner Janie Turek of Mount Sinai, placing 2nd. Gelibert's time was 68.4, with cuts on her hip, knee, elbows and hands and came back a few hours later and win the open 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.2 (15.8 in the trials). In the intermediate 400 hurdles, Nicole Chin ran a seasonal best of 77.2 to place 3rd. For complete results click here.
Marauders Dominate, Beat HHH East -
Anisa Toppin & Jessica Gelibert Win 2 Events Each
The weather was terrible once again. The winter was bad, and the spring has followed the same pattern. As the rain began to fall late in the meet, the coaches decided to cancel the relays. Bay Shore already had several athletes sick! The Marauders improve to 2-0 with Walt Whitman and Central Islip on Monday. The two toughest teams to race aganist (Smithtown East & West Islip) will be Bay Shore's test at the end of the month and beginning in May. Anisa Toppin continues to have a fine season, winning the triple jump – 34’3” and the 200 meter dash – 26.8. Jessica Gelibert ran the fastest 100 meter hurdle time in the County with a 15.2 win. Jessica also won the 400 hurdles in 67.9. Other winners for Bay Shore were Danielle Rowe in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:04.6. Brianah Allen won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.5, and is looking to get that final spot on the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Penn Relays! Alexis Barrau was a few steps back also running 13.5. Josephine Anderson will join the competition starting Saturday! Megan Valentin won the 1500 meter walk with a time of 8:03.3. Aasha Jackson won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.0. Kathryn Glynn and Regina Peattie tied for first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:39.6. Danely Rodriguez won the shot put with a toss of 30’2”. Alyssa Nicholson won the discus with a toss of 76’3”. Idis Rivera won the pole vault with a pb of 7’6”. Genesis Miranda also cleared 7’6”, but lost on misses. Alexis Barrau continued her winning ways with a first place finish in the long jump – 16’6ö”. Nailah Braxton won the high jump clearing 4’8”. Other noteworthy performances were turned in by Nia McCaslin pb 5:22.5, Jenn Halloran pb 5:25.2 and Cesia Andrade – 5:26.6 in the 1500 meter run. Aviana Goode 18.3 and Nicole Chin 18.4 went 2-3 in the 100m hurdles. Patrice Baston ran 13.6 in the 100 meter dash. Jasmin Reyes ran her first race of the season and ran a 2:36.5. Nice to have her back running well! Karla Casiano ran a pb 2:44.9. Alyssa Gravina also ran her first race since last year after surgery, and ran 3:00.6. Great to see Alyssa return to action! Brianah Allen ran a seasonal best of 27.2 in the 200, placing 2nd. Claire moran was 3rd in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:45.8. Erica Silhan cleared 4’7” for the third straight meet to place 2nd in the high jump.

The Ross Goldin Memorial Meet was named in memory of Ross Goldin, a long time Bay Shore Teacher and Coach, who won numerous County, Conference and League Championships at Bay Shore High School. Coach Goldin later became an Administrator at John Glenn, Islip and Connetquot, before his untimely death in March of 2010. Bay Shore did very well at the meet winning nine events.
